How to get from the airport to your hotel

  • Hotel shuttles Some hotels offer their own shuttle service from the airport - check with you hotel whether they provide such an option.

  • A taxi ride from the airport to a hotel in the center takes around 20 minutes at a cost of approximately 30.00 PLN (Please note: after 10:00 pm and on the weekends, the per kilometer rate increases by 50%). At the airport, be sure to avoid independent taxi drivers (they usually charge much higher rates). Beware from individuals who offer transport services at the exit from the arrival area. Head directly to the corporate taxi stands right outside the arrival hall. Most cab companies accept credit cards, but please double check before the ride.

  • A public bus service, no. 175 runs from Okecie International Airport (it stops at the third lane in front of the exit from the Arrival terminal) to the city center, and is an efficient and inexpensive way to travel, with bus stops in the direct vicinity of most hotels listed on the conference webpage:

    • Residence St. Andrew's Palace, Novotel Centrum, Hotel Metropol: bus stop Centrum
    • Hotel Gromada: bus stop Chmielna (from Monday to Friday bus stop DH Smyk)
    • Hotel Mazowiecki: bus stop pl. Malachowskiego (from Monday to Friday bus stop Uniwersytet plus 6-minut walk)
    • Hotel Victoria: bus stop pl. Malachowskiego (from Monday to Friday bus stop Uniwersytet plus 4-minut walk)
    • Hotel Bristol: bus stop pl. Pilsudskiego
    • Hotel Harenda: bus stop pl. Malachowskiego plus 5-minut walk (from Monday to Friday bus stop Uniwersytet)

From Monday to Friday no. 175 has different route, it does not stop near pl. Malachowskiego and Chmielna (but stops on other bus stops listed above).

A public bus service, no. 188 is the most convenient one to get from the airport to Hotel Hera. The bus stop is pl. Na Rozdrozu and then you can either take a 15-minut walk down Aleje Ujazdowskie street and Belwederska street or take one of the buses 116, 166, 180, 195 (the bus stop is on the opposite side of the Aleje Ujazdowskie street, this map may be helpful :)) and get off on the bus stop Spacerowa.

For public transport you should buy the ticket in advance in one of the airport newspaper kiosks. A single ticket is 2,80 PLN, a ticket valid during 24 hours is 9,00, a three-day one is 16,00, and a seven-day one is 32,00. The tickets become valid when punched in a yellow box (to be found on the bus). You can also buy the ticket directly from the driver. Drivers don't give change. They sell single tickets only.

Please remember that 175, being the airport line, has been notorious for pickpockets.

If you're arriving by train

The most convenient station is Warszawa Centralna, situated in the very centre of Warsaw, next to the famous Palace of Culture and Science. From there, you will reach your hotel by foot or by bus; here is a map of the bus stops around the station.

The bus no. 175 (the airport line) will take you from in front of the station to most hotels. The 175 bus stop is right by the Marriott Hotel.

Please remember to keep an eye on your belongings while at the train station or on the bus. Avoid crowds and talking to strange individuals ;-)

How to get from the hotel to the University

TAXI

If you're traveling to the Meeting by taxi, show the driver the following (University campus) address:

Uniwersytet Warszawski, ul. Krakowskie Przedmiescie 26/28
PUBLIC TRANSPORT

From Monday to Friday you can get to the University by buses 111, 116, 160, 175, 178, 180, 195, 222, 503; the bus stop is called UNIWERSYTET :-) It is right by the University gates. (On weekends Krakowskie Przedmiescie street is closed for traffic on the stretch between Swietokrzyska and Krolewska streets and Nowy Swiat street is closed on the stretch between Aleje Jerozolimskie street and Swietokrzyska street)

ON FOOT

If you're staying within walking distance from the main University campus, it will certainly be a pleasant walk through Warsaw's historical area. If you're staying at Logos Hotel or anywhere near the river Wisla, remember that you can access the main University campus not only from Krakowskie Przedmiescie street, but also through its ``lower'' gate at Obozna 16, street, near the bulding number 4 on the map.

The Meeting will be held in the Old University Library. It is the building number 10 on this map (vis-a-vis the University gates).

Here you can admire University of Warsaw in interactive panoramas.
