Some applications of the small object argument

Summary: First, I will briefly recall the notion of a model category. Next, I will describe in detail Quillen's small object argument. The rest of the talk will be devoted to various applications of this method to produce factorizations of mappings and present some non standard conditions (i.e. not those implied by the fourth axiom of a model category) under which the generalized lifting-extension problem has a solution.
